Nacho Average Baby Shower

I had a Cinco de Mayo baby shower this past weekend; Nacho Average Baby Shower is what we called it (thanks to the brilliant Stevi Loren). The shower was complete with maracas, a nacho bar, mexican prayer-type flags (I don’t really know what they’re called, just that I like them) and many of my friends and family.

The photo above is of me before I got hot and sweaty. The adorable stork is what my Aunt Doris made me – awesome, huh?

I refused to have a traditional baby shower. There were no pastels, I tried to keep the ooo-ing and awe-ing over tiny-sized things to a minimum and yes, we had alcohol. Even though I didn’t get to drink it – I know the margarita punch was appreciated by others.

The boys took part in a drinking contest. They had to see who could suck 34 oz. of beer out of a bottle the fastest. Perry (the one in the yellow shirt) won – but only because he took the top off and drank what was left.

All of the guys faces hurt afterwards. Apparently drinking out of a bottle is hard work. I’ll ¬†just take their word for it.¬†

We had these ribbon wishes at my wedding too. For the baby shower we asked everyone to write a wish for Baby Lewis on the ribbon. I plan on hanging it in the nursery. So every time we look at it, he and we are reminded of how many people love us and wish the best for us.

Like my mustache? My friend Megan decided to put it on my belly before we left the park for the day. Ole!

All in all the baby shower was a success and though I am still re-energizing myself from the experience, I feel truly blessed and supported in more ways than one. I could not ask for a better group of friends and family and for that, I am grateful.

A special thank you goes out to Stevi Loren for whipping this thing together, Lacy for helping her and taking care of the food and of course, my husband, Brian for being there with me to experience it all.

I am a blessed woman,
