Spirit Animals: Unlocking the Secrets of Our Animal Companions

Spirit Animals: Unlocking the Secrets of Our Animal Companions

Normally when I purchase a book it’s one that I will be able to use as a workbook of sorts like The War of Art, Fire Starter Sessions or A Return to Love.

I rarely buy books that contain information I could simply look up online.

But when I visited Half Price Books this past week, I came across Spirit Animals + couldn’t bring myself to put it down.

The thing that caught my attention at first were the illustrations.

Stefanie Iris Weiss chose not 1, but 9 illustrators for this book! The collection of their work is simply breathtaking.

The book shares 40 different animals, a passage about their personality, spiritual origins, guiding powers and their companion animals.

I am in love with this book.

Right now in my life, butterflies have been calling to me. Here’s a passage from the book that I love…

Butterflies fly only during the day and drink nectar from flowers for sustenance. These beautiful creatures emerge from their far less attractive larval stage to dot the lanscape with magical bursts of color. Most love for only two weeks, showing us how fleeting life can be. They are gentle and lovely but incredibly powerful within. Able to focus their intention and create majestic wings out of the stillness of an unassuming cocoon, they explode into the world and make magic. Butterflies are found on every continent, except for Antarctica.

Spirit Animals has inspired me to take on animal symbolism as a study. I want to know more about the animal spirit in relationship to us as humans + what gifts + messages they have for us.

I highly recommend giving this book a buy. It has hands-down warmed my heart + put more light in my life.
